HCII 2017: Important! Extended Deadlines for paper/tutorial submission

Due to multiple requests from prospective authors, the deadline for paper and tutorial submissions for HCI International 2017 has been extended:

Friday, 4 November 2016, paper proposals (an abstract of 800 words is required)
Friday, 4 November 2016, tutorial proposals (an abstract of 300 words is required)

HCII 2017: Conference details

HCI International 2017, to be held at the Vancouver Convention Centre, in Vancouver, Canada, 9-14 July 2017, incorporates 15 Conferences / Thematic Areas, expecting to attract over 2,000 participants from more than 70 countries around the world. The Conference will start with three days of Tutorials (9-11 July). Parallel Sessions, Poster Sessions and the Exhibition will be held during the last three days (12-14 July) of the Conference.

The Conference Proceedings will be published by Springer in a multi-volume set. Papers will appear in volumes of the LNCS and LNAI series. Extended Poster abstracts will be published in the CCIS series.

The best paper of each of the Thematic Areas / Affiliated Conferences will receive an award. The Best Poster extended abstract will also receive an award.

HCII 2017: DUXU 2017 new co-chair, Wentao Wang

Wentao Wang has joined Aaron Marcus as a co-chair of the 6th International Conference on Design, User Experience and Usability (DUXU 2017, http://2017.hci.international/duxu).

Wentao Wang graduated from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor with a Master’s degree specializing in Human Computer Interaction. He is serving as Senior Manager at the User Experience Department of Baidu Inc. He is also chair of Baidu EBG (Emerging Business Group) UX designer evaluation committee. He takes charge of Baidu design guideline, UX designer training, UX research and many Baidu product’s UX design, such as Baidu Search, Baidu Map, Baidu Photo Wonder, Baidu Stock, Baidu Lottery, Baidu Education Services, etc. Before joining Baidu, Wentao served as UX designer in Oracle Inc., in USA.

HCII 2017: VAMR 2017 new co-chair, Jessie Y.C. Chen

Jessie Y.C. Chen has joined Stephanie Lackey as a co-chair of the 9th International Conference on Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality (VAMR 2017, http://2017.hci.international/vamr).

Jessie Y.C. Chen is a senior research psychologist at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory, Human Research and Engineering Directorate in Orlando, Florida. She began her federal career at the U.S. Army Research Institute and joined ARL in 2003. At ARL, she conducts research on human-robot interaction and human-autonomy teaming, specifically in the area of agent transparency.

HCII 2017: Keynote speech by Ben Shneiderman

Ben Shneiderman, Distinguished University Professor in the Department of Computer Science, Founding Director (1983-2000) of the Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory (http://www.cs.umd.edu/hcil/), and a Member of the UM Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS) at the University of Maryland, USA, will give the Keynote Speech during the Opening Plenary Session on Tuesday, 11 July 2017, 18:00 hrs. HCII 2017: Accommodation

The Vancouver Convention Center will be the conference venue. Three nearby hotels have been appointed as the official HCII2017 hotels. A number of rooms have been reserved to be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, while significantly reduced rates have been agreed with these hotels, valid for all Conference participants for the duration of the Conference as well as for 2 additional days, before and / or after the Conference, based on availability. Please also note that, the 7 June 2017 is the cutoff date for reservations. Any requests after that date will be handled on a space and cost availability basis.
