HCI International 2007 promises to be an unforgettable event

HCI International 2007 and its ten affiliated Conferences / Thematic Areas, the worldwide renowned international forum for the dissemination and exchange of up–to–date scientific information on theoretical, generic and applied areas of Human Computer Interaction (HCI), invite you to Beijing, P.R. China, 22–27 July 2007.

HCI International 2007 promises to be an unforgettable cluster of high quality international scientific events, and an ideal occasion to come to contact with the most rapidly evolving ICT market in the world. It is expected that HCI International 2007 will attract over 2,000 participants.

The conference will also feature a technical exhibition of the latest technologies and related services, presented by many exhibitors from all over the world.

In conjunction with the conference, 20 pre–conference half–day and full–day tutorials will be offered on HCI related topics by leading researcher scientists and technologists.

Dr. Takeo Kanade, U.A. and Helen Whitaker University Professor of Computer Science and Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University, USA and founding director of the Digital Human Research Center, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Tokyo, Japan, will be the keynote speaker at the opening ceremony on Tuesday, July 24th, 2007. The title of his keynote address is "Digital Human Modeling and Quality of Life Technology".

Further interesting points:

  • Make your hotel reservations as soon as possible to take advantage of our great conference rates.
  • P.R. of China is a great tourist destination. Register early for the social tours and visit the Great Wall, Ming Tombs, Forbidden City and Summer Palace.
  • Order extra gala dinner tickets for your accompanying person(s), through your CMS account.
  • Apply, through your CMS account, for an official invitation letter, which you can use while applying for a visa to travel to P.R. China. This option will be enabled in your CMS account as soon as the payment for your registration is received.

HCII 2007 – Proceedings

Individuals from academia, research institutes, industry and governmental agencies from 76 countries have submitted contributions to the HCI International 2007 Conference, and the accepted papers, following a peer review process, will appear in the conference proceedings, to be published by Springer, and become available on–line through the LNCS Digital Library, readily accessible by all subscribing libraries around the world.

Please visit the Conference website for information about the 17 Volumes of the Conference Proceedings.

The Proceedings will also be published by Springer in CD/DVD that will be provided to the Conference participants in their registration bags. This CD/DVD will also include, in addition to the papers, the extended abstracts of the posters that will be presented during the conference. As the CD/DVD will have its own separate ISBN number, posters can also be easily referenced.

HCII 2007 – Posters

A large number of posters have already been accepted for interactive presentation during the conference.

Poster proposal submissions received from 3 May 2007 to 15 June 2007, following a peer–review process, will be considered for interactive presentation during the conference. However, these accepted posters will not be included in the CD/DVD Conference Proceedings.

Introducing the Applied Ergonomics International NEWS

In parallel to the announcement of the 2nd International Conference on Applied Ergonomics, I am pleased to announce the creation of the Applied Ergonomics International NEWS, a newsletter about Ergonomics and Human Factors topics. It will also cover the AE International 2008 Conference deadlines and activities, the AEI 2007 Exhibition, and more. Like its sibling the HCI International NEWS, the Applied Ergonomics International NEWS is an electronic newsletter published bi–monthly, distributed by email and also available on&ndas;line. Special Issue of ACM TACCESS

Special Issue of ACM Transactions on Accessible Computing (TACCESS) on "Online Communities and People with Disabilities"

The focus of this special issue will be on papers that address the design and study of online communities for people with disabilities and for older people. Theoretical issues and practical challenges in these areas such as analysis of empathic communities, design and evaluation methodologies as well as implementation will be of interest to this issue.
