In order to foster collaboration and cooperation among the international HCI communities, the HCI International series of conferences was inaugurated exactly 20 years ago.

The HCI International 2003 conference included participants from 51 countries who represented the leading scientists and practitioners in HCI from around the world. In past HCI International conferences, about 60% of all conference registrants came from abroad. HCI International 2005, the 11th International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction, which will be held 22-29 July 2005 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, will capture the whole breadth and depth of the discipline by having 7 HCI affiliated conferences run concurrently with HCI International.
